RYAN GIGGS has warned his Manchester United team-mates they must match Chelsea's hunger and desire if they are going to successfully defend their title and secure a Premier League hat-trick.But the wing wizard, who has 10 Premier League winners' medals believes United's superior experience will give them the edge over their rivals in the race for top spot.United's championship defence got off to a shaky start when they were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by Newcastle at Old Trafford last Sunday.Chelsea on the other hand were in stunning early form under new boss Luiz Felipe Scolari as they demolished Portsmouth. It means the Red Devils have already fallen two points adrift of the Blues as well as title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool. And they look like being further behind by the time they face Portsmouth on Monday. With tough away trips to Anfield and Stamford Bridge coming up in September, the Red Devils must battle hard just to stay in touch. And Giggs wants to see his team-mates fighting for the cause. But he believes Sir Alex Ferguson's squad is strong enough to stand the battle."Chelsea did not win the Premier League last year," said the Welsh flyer, who is set to miss three weeks with a hamstring injury he sustained against Newcastle."I have been in that position. You are hungry and determined, and you want to win it, simple as that."We have got to match their determination, their hunger and their desire."But we have players at the club who have tasted success over the last couple of years and want more."United's cause has not been helped by injuries to Giggs and Michael Carrick. With Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Saha both out injured, Sir Alex Ferguson's squad looks desperately short of attacking options at present.Ferguson may well be on the phone to Tottenham today to see if he can resurrect a move for Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov. Spurs have already rejected a $40million offer, but with Berbatov publicly expressing his desire to quit White Hart Lane, they may decide to cash in.While Fergie looks to bolster his attacking options, one player who looks to be on his way out of Old Trafford is experienced French defender Mikael Silvestre.Aa Silvestre appears to be edging closer to a surprise move to Arsenal after falling way down the pecking order at United.United are understood to be asking for $1.5million for the 31-year-old.Sunderland and Man City were interested, but Arsenal look to have won the race.Meanwhile, Sunderland were last night tying up French striker Djibril Cisse on loan from Marseille.
