Fed: Kirk shellshocked at Latham's appointment

Federal Labor Senator LINDA KIRK says she's shellshocked at the appointment of MARK
LATHAM as the party's new leader.

Mr LATHAM has defeated KIM BEAZLEY 47 votes to 45 to assume the leadership from SIMON CREAN.

Senator KIRK, from South Australia, has told ABC radio the result is a suprise.

She says she believes the Labor party is now in unchartered waters.
