NSW: Kylie musical set to open
Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper says a musical around the hits of Aussie pop princess
KYLIE MINOGUE is being written in London.
It says theatre writer and director DAVID KNOX will dip into KYLIE'S entire musical
catalogue to illustrate the story of a young gay man's quest for love.
The musical -- which has the working title I Should Be So Lucky -- is one of several
theatrical pieces inspired by Mamma Mia, a musical featuring the hits of Swedish band
Abba.
A production featuring the music of the Pet Shop Boys has just closed in London's West
End theatre district while two other singalong musicals, featuring the hits of Queen and
the New Romantic movement respectively, are set to open.
KNOX says he's planning to take I Should Be So Lucky on a short Australian tour next
year before heading to the West End.
