THE assault case against Beaufory West Mayor Truman Prince has been postponed for a third time.
Prince appeared in the Beaufort West Magistrate's Court yesterday, where he faced charges of common assault, assault against a police official, resisting lawful arrest and riotous behaviour.
Yesterday, a court official said Prince would remain on warning until the case resumed on February 26 when evidence would be heard.
In October, Prince allegedly hit a security guard with a mug after being told he was entering an alcohol-free zone at a festival. He then apparently attacked the policeman who tried to arrest him.
Prince was detained at Beaufort West police station for three hours after the incident, before he was released on R200 bail.
A few weeks before the alleged brawl, Prince was suspended from his party, the Independent Civic Organisation of SA. - Staff Writer
